New research on what causes eczema and psoriasis is being carried out by European scientists – and EOS is delighted to be involved as a patient group.

BIOMAP have released an animation that illustrates the project which aims to discover the root cause of skin conditions. This could help develop new treatment that will improve millions of people’s lives. The easy to understand video is aimed at non-professionals and explains why this new programme of research is so important.

 Since the project launch in 2019, more than 30 leading international players from academia, pharma industry and civil society have joined forces by combining clinical, genetic and epidemiological expertise with modern analysis techniques and newly-developed tools in bioinformatics.  

During the first two years of the project, the BIOMAP partners have made significant progress in achieving the project’s objectives. Following still on-going experimental work, the consortium has taken a considerable step forward by making sure their data collections adhere to stringent rules governing patient data privacy. The project partners are currently uploading the datasets to their central data platform.
